Bags of soil containing small amounts of gold sit slashed and abandoned after police forced illegal gold miners to destroy them on the outskirts of Johannesburg, South Africa. Behind the bags is what is left of the judo studio which operated in Durban Deep for over two decades. During the previous few weeks, all the power cables in the area were dug up and stolen, leaving the entire area without any power.
