California Wildfire Rescue

23 images Created 11 Dec 2020

I spent a week on assignment with the International Fund for Animal Welfare (ifaw) documenting their rescue efforts in the fire zones of Northern California. In the context of such unimaginably apocalyptic scenes and so much sadness, I also witnessed many inspiring moments—a determined collection of humans going to great lengths to rescue and evacuate animals that, against great odds, managed to survive the destruction. I thought I’d share a few of those moments in the hope that they will move others as they moved me.
